A heart of stone can never love
nor find a place of rest
it has no room for compassion
nor any tenderness
____
this world is full of stony hearts
blackened from life of sin
mean and nasty and full of hate
by holding evil in
____
loving darkness instead of light
these hearts of stone grow worse
as evil forces do their best
to keep one bound and cursed
____
and knowing someday will come
when death shall take away
any hope for changing that heart
no hope comes from the grave
____
then Satan has won by his lies
in hiding truth from man
doing his best to hinder God
to thwart salvation’s plan
____
but Jesus offers grace to all
forgiveness of all sins
He’ll take away the stony heart
when He abides within
____
and then the heart of flesh reveals
what true love can become
one cannot help to be changed
accepting Christ the Son
